ABSTRACT

There are various chemical intoxicants which are responsible for causing deception about the quality of food among the people. Omics technologies have greater acceptance in detection of food adulterants due to proper authentication satisfaction achieved by the customers and this has led to a greater demand. Application of ‘omics approaches’ in food safety include detection of food adulterants using genomics, metabolomics, transcriptomics, lipidomics, and proteomics approaches that are critically reviewed. Patent studies in omics approaches for the detection of food adulterants is also critically discussed
