ABSTRACT
The improved versions of elephant herding optimization (EHO) is discussed in this chapter. The modifications are suggested to improve the global searching ability of the method and then applied to solve a real-life engineering optimization problem. An optimization problem is formulated to minimize the daily operating cost of microgrids comprised of multiple distributed energy resources (DERs). The application of EHO to real-life optimization problems is point-wise explained.
