ABSTRACT
The Glowworm Swarm Optimization (GSO) algorithm has found many applications in various disciplines of mathematics, engineering, and sciences since its inception in 2005. It has also been modified by researchers and several extensions have been proposed to make the basic algorithm effective in solving many problems. Some reviews on applications and variants of GSO can be found in literature. In this chapter, we present a brief description of the original version of the GSO algorithm, a few modifications to the algorithm, and the application of each modification to a real-world problem in engineering.
