ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we give a brief description of the social spider optimization (SSO) algorithm and its modifications. Then we test the modified SSO algorithm on one of the real-life applications, namely, economic load dispatch problem. The modified SSO algorithm is called Chaotic Social Spider Optimization algorithm (CSSO). Finally, we apply the CSSO algorithm for solving the economic load dispatch problem. Also, we compare the CSSO algorithm with the standard SSO algorithm to verify its efficiency.
