ABSTRACT

A 10-day-old infant presents with a rash in the diaper area and inner thighs. The parents report that the rash started as red raised lesions but has progressed over the last 24 hours to large, fluid-filled blisters. Desquamated skin and crusting is present at the site of a ruptured blister. The child has been afebrile but has not been feeding as well. The rash appears painful when examined.
