ABSTRACT

Advances in communication technology enable an economical way of structuring wireless sensor networks and guide the progress of many applications like object recognition, health monitoring, navigation, tracking, and environment monitoring. But positioning sensors in distributed networks are crucial in any of the applications mentioned. Traditional sensor positioning techniques are expensive, require more energy, face connectivity failure problems, and are also less accurate in performance. Therefore, effective and efficient techniques are required for sensor positioning to overcome these issues. Chapter 8 mainly focuses on sensor deployment strategies to achieve optimum coverage area and minimize energy consumption.
