ABSTRACT

Nanotechnology is a broad term that includes a variety of technologies and materials involving a vast variation of particle size helpful in different aspects of technology and research. In terms of technology and science, nanotechnology deals with smaller (nano) sized particles. This chapter explores the concept of nanotechnology with a brief overview of the method of production and applications of nanomaterials in various fields. Different evaluation parameters of nanotechnology are provided in different standards of measurement bureaus, such as nanometer, which is an SI unit. Advanced nanotechnology techniques have transformed a vast number of scientific and industrial areas, including drug delivery and food technology. Nanotechnology is currently employed for the delivery of drugs to cancerous tissue as conventional drug delivery suffers with the disadvantage of causing toxicity to healthy cells, which leads to their permanent impairment and even causes their death.
