ABSTRACT

Nevoid melanoma (NeM) is a rare variant of melanoma characterized by deceptive morphological features reminiscent of a benign melanocytic nevus; therefore, it can be difficult to detect with its clinical and histopathologic morphology. In fact, most cases are retrospectively diagnosed because they lacked clinical suspicion, but similar to other malignant melanoma, NeM is prone to local recurrence and metastasis.

Clinically it can appear as a nodule plaque or papule variably pigmented arising on the trunk or limbs of adults. Dermoscopically lesions can be divided into three major groups: nevus-like, amelanotic and multicomponent tumors in which very important findings are the presence of atypical vessels and/or irregular dots and/or globules.
