ABSTRACT

Cylindroma is a benign adnexal tumor deriving from apocrine sweat glands and appearing as a solitary flesh-colored papule, mainly located on the head and neck area of middle-aged and elderly women. Multiple variants are associated with two autosomal dominant genetic syndromes: familiar cylindromatosis and Brooke-Spiegler syndrome; the former is characterized only by multiple cylindromas, the latter also by multiple trichoepitheliomas and spiradenomas. Only a few case reports have described the dermoscopic appearance of cylindroma, being arborizing vessels on a white-pinkish background, and blue-gray dots/globules were the most reported criteria.
