ABSTRACT

Eccrine poroma is a benign adnexal tumor originating from the acrosyringium of the eccrine gland. It belongs to a family of tumors located at different levels in the skin, of which the hidroacanthoma simplex is the most superficial; being completely located in the epidermis, eccrine poroma extends from the epidermis into the dermis, and the dermal duct tumor is located deeper in the dermis. Eccrine poroma is a great imitator both on clinical and dermoscopic appearance. It classically presents as a solitary nodule on acral sites, but many other body sites may be involved. Concerning dermoscopic examination, white interlacing areas around vessels, yellow structureless areas, milky-red globules and vessels poorly visualized have been reported as dermoscopic criteria independently associated with poroma diagnosis. Moreover, four clinical/dermoscopic groups have been described for eccrine poroma. However, in most cases, clinical and dermoscopic examinations are not able to solve the diagnostic issue, and histopathology is needed.
