ABSTRACT

The structural modifications of the conjugated polymers have been achieved by two ways: by making polymers from substituted monomers and through copolymerization. Exploring the present state-of-art of preparation, properties of conjugated polymer nanocomposites to be used in various applications with better performance than the pristine conjugated polymers is the primary aim. The most common organic materials for preparation of nanocomposites with conjugated polymers are used as polymers or the bio-molecules. The hydrophobic or organophilic property of the clay minerals has been introduced by surface modification to achieve the improved property of the derived nanocomposites by making it compatible with the polymer matrix. Influence of processability, gas permeability, optical properties, mechanical properties, anticorrosion properties, electrical conductivity on the composition of conjugated polymer nanocomposite with nanoclays were investigated widely. Conjugated polymer/metal nanocomposite offers a convenient way to combine the advantages as well as properties of organic polymer materials with that of the inorganic metal nanoparticles.
