ABSTRACT

Inventory management is a critical component to any supply chain that directly affects the bottom line. Inventory management and forecasting go hand in hand. Forecasting customer demand is a core function of supply chain management. The forecast lets the manufacturing department know what to make when and what components to procure ahead of time. This chapter presents four different level of reviews with different objectives and different types of information. The first manager review meeting’s goal was to make sure the recommendation passed the initial gut check and ensure there were not any glaring red flags in the analysis at a high level. The second meeting’s goal was to compare the solution against a completely different methodology to validate the recommendation in a different way. The third meeting with the internal experts’ goal was to vet the intricate details of the analyses, not the recommendation itself. The final upper level management meeting’s goal was to approve the new recommendation.
