ABSTRACT
Interventional cardiology is generally invasive in nature; however, many non-invasive tools are available to assist in characterising cardiovascular health in patient management. This chapter critiques the measurement of blood pressure and blood flow in the peripheral arteries and in the aorta. The historical context of brachial blood pressure measurement is discussed and followed through to more recent advents in non-invasive calculation of aortic blood pressure and cardiac output.
