ABSTRACT
The process of haemostasis and coagulation depends on the interaction between platelets and the many circulating plasma proteins involved in thrombus formation, as illustrated by the various mechanisms of the coagulation cascade. This chapter outlines the coagulation process and describes the vascular, cellular, biochemical and pharmacological sequence of events that comprise the coagulation cascade and regulate haemostasis and coagulation.
