ABSTRACT

This chapter highlights recent changes in nursing practice in cardiac catheterization centres and discusses the nursing role in preparing, guiding and caring for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization procedures. The authors detail the extent of nursing involvement in following clinical and administrative guidelines, the responsibility associated with participating in percutaneous structural heart interventions, and the increased role of nursing in ensuring safety throughout all stages of the interventions. This is valuable and practical information for all nurse practitioners in a modern cardiac environment.
