ABSTRACT

Historically, database management systems (DBMS) associated with data fusion applications provided storage and retrieval of sensor-derived parametric and text-based data, fusion products, and algorithm components such as templates and exemplar sets. The role of DBMS rapidly expanded as multimedia data sources, such as imagery, video, and graphic overlays, became important components of fusion algorithms. Today, DBMS are widely recognized as a critical component of the overall system design.
