ABSTRACT
A demonstration of the inability of vessel deployed systems to accurately define upper, very soft seabeds is provided in Pennington & Kelleher (2007).
In response to the need to better characterize the strength profile of near seabed sediments, Randolph et al. (2007) recommended the strength of upper seabed sediments could be better characterized via miniature penetrometer testing of high quality box core samples.
