ABSTRACT
Figure 3 shows the undrained shear strength as derived from all laboratory strength testing. The tests demonstrate large scatter. The UU tests were expected to underestimate the in-situ strength by a large margin compared to the CAU triaxial tests as reflected in Figure 3, as a result of the generic heterogeneous set-up of the clay till material.The shallow CPTs return in situ cu values between 250-2000 kPa below excavation level.
