ABSTRACT
Under lateral forces, the brace is primarily axially loaded. This axial force is transmitted to the connectors through the welds to the end of the brace, and to the splice plates by flexure in the fingers. The splice plates are connected to the beamcolumn joint by a traditional corner gusset plate.
