ABSTRACT

X-CBFs and V-CBFs. In the first case, the braces in compressions can be ignored thanks to their (code imposed) high slenderness, the nonlinearity comes in the inter-storey drift assessment. In any case, this is easily overcome by simply using a nonlinear static (pushover) analysis. In the case of V-CBFs, braces in compression should be considered in the calculation models and must resist to compressive forces. Moreover, the beams should be designed to resist to the vertical unbalanced force generated by the yielded brace in tension and the post-buckled brace in compression.
