Continued spalling and delamination some years later caused a corrosion survey in several steps, which is described next. In some cases heavily corroded reinforcement was visible (see Fig. 2), and chloride values up to 6%, related to cement mass, were determined. As an additional information by the facility management, the stock of de-icing salt for the mall, that had been stored in a compartment within the car park, got dissolved during a flood and had penetrated into the asphalt and soil.
