ABSTRACT
As bridge owner Devon County Council has inspected and maintained this historic structure over the years and after carrying out a structural assessment in 2001, a 3 tonne weight restriction was applied to the bridge. This was required because the cantilevers carrying the footpaths were weak and the steel reinforcement was beginning to corrode due to high chloride levels and lack of concrete cover.
