ABSTRACT

This paper intends to present a reliability based methodology for life time prediction of concrete sewers subjected to sulfide induced concrete corrosion. A stochastic model for wall thickness reduction is developed. To quantify the probability of failure due to corrosion, a time dependent reliability method is employed so that the time for sewer

1 INTRODUCTION

Corrosion in the management of sewerage systems is one of the important factors for asset managers. Sulfide induced concrete corrosion is a time dependent process which considerably affects the lifetime of concrete sewers. Sulfide corrosion model has been introduced by Pomeroy (1976) and has been extended in ASCE Report No. 69 (1989).
