ABSTRACT

Workers exposed to high levels of sound pressure can have, over the years, an irreversible sensorineural hearing loss (hearing loss due to exposure to high sound pressure levels). Initially, you may experience temporary changes in hearing threshold (TTS-Temporary Threshold Shift), ie a short-term effect of the reduction in hearing sensitivity, which gradually returns to normal after cessation of exposure. The change in hearing threshold depends on the exposure time, the sound level of acoustic emission, the frequency of the sound and individual sensitivity. Through continued exposure may occur permanent changes in the threshold of hearing (WU AND DING, 1998).
