Bandung File A Channel 4 programme launched in 1991 and dedicated to issues relevant to black British communities, Bandung File was named after the 1955 conference of the same name that brought together African and Asian states in Indonesia. It was the successor to the current affairs programme Black on Black. The programme sought to raise issues that were relevant to being black in Britain, such as discrimination and n e w rac i sm. It also gave space to current debates and contentious issues such as political correctness and multiculturalism, as well as to promote the historical significance of African and Asian cultures and their impact on Western cultural development. Darcus H o w e and Tariq Ali were frequent contributors. Channel 4 launched their latest current affairs programme on black issues, Black Bag, in 1992.
