ABSTRACT

A vast array of parapsychological work has been conducted over the past century. Summarising and describing parts of this work have been greatly aided by recent meta-analyses of some areas of parapsychological research. Meta-analysis of some groups of experimental studies has provided a way of assessing the overall significance of a large number of studies, arriving at an estimate of the magnitude of the effect being examined, and has aided in uncovering trends and patterns contained within the databases. Psychophysical Research Laboratory conducted 355 autoganzfeld sessions using eight different experimenters. These sessions obtained similar findings to the earlier studies. In summarising the precognition meta-analyses findings, Honorton and Ferrari conclude that the 'forced-choice precognition experiments confirms the existence of a small but highly significant precognition effect'. Parapsychologists have long been interested in exploring why some people report having more psi experiences in their everyday life than do others.
