ABSTRACT

The path a project will follow after the sound has been mixed will depend on a number of factors. The first is the technical path that has been chosen: whether or not the shooting was on film or video and what system has been used for editing. Unless the intention is to show the finished product in the cinema there are now distinct advantages to completing post-production in the electronic mode. Titling, effects and all image manipulation are easier to achieve and to control electronically. However the overriding influence on the way completion is achieved may be neither technical nor indeed artistic; it may be merely commercial.
