The Socioeconomics of Food and Feasting in Pre-Exilic Israel and Judah

This chapter provides an overview of the food and alcohol ancient Israelites and Judahites produced and consumed using archaeological remains and biblical texts. It also addresses some of the major agricultural feasts and other significant contexts for festal ritual consumption. The social and ritual dynamics of food production, sacrifice, and feasting are noted throughout, with a particular emphasis on the lives of ordinary rural Israelites and Judahites.
