ABSTRACT

In this case, Mrs. Smorol shares her journey with her self-contained physical education classes in high school. She explained how students were separate and did not have much interaction with their peers on a day-to-day basis. She decided to start a school-wide peer buddy program called the Physical Education Leadership Program. Once she started the Physical Education Leadership Program, the students with disabilities had more instruction, feedback, and socialization. They benefitted from the 1:1 instruction, as well as from teamwork, friendships, and goal setting. This case is followed by a self-report of one of the high school buddies.
