ABSTRACT

Our knowledge about how the brain works is expanding by the day. How will all these astonishing findings change how we all learn?

Neuroscientists have already made discoveries that amaze today’s grandparents. Everyone’s brain is unique and we now know there is almost nothing you cannot change or improve by how you use it.

Our brains don’t go into irreversible decline from our late teens. Unless we damage them, we can all learn new and even complicated things as we grow older. So, all is not lost for those who don’t do well at school. They can have a second go at learning as adults.

The use of neuroscience in education is in its infancy but it could transform the way we learn and teach. One neuroscientist has suggested that research into the brain could prove as important for education as discoveries in biology were for public health in the 19th and 20th centuries.
