ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the analysis of the Polish academic discourse on the reform of research and higher education, and comprises four main parts. The first contains a discussion of the surfaces of emergence of the subject of discourse, i.e. the phenomenon of the relativization of the university in reflecting on its models and the way of managing higher education and academic culture. The next three parts present the discursively created and supported “truths” about the reform (including those in terms of time, space, driving force, hope, and disillusion), as well as the mechanisms of their construction in the public debate.
