ABSTRACT

Marking Conferences would be held once a week, where either a teacher or teaching assistant would work with the group to give them feedback and further guidance on how to address any gaps. Children would then be given time to work on their gaps, by either improving what they had already done or applying their new knowledge in their next piece of work. The children in the four classes selected for the research were also asked about their views on existing practice as part of a class discussion with their teacher. Throughout the project, children’s views were collected through discussions with their class teacher and views of the staff were given during focus group meetings. Children seemed to engage well in the new approach and their books showed that they were making progress. They enjoyed spending time with their teacher, and this motivated them much more.
