ABSTRACT

This chapter treats the development of suitable translingual dispositions as pedagogically resourceful for practicing transnational literacies. Countering the dominant focus on language norms or writing skills, the chapter demonstrates the value of dispositions as enabling writers to negotiate literacies in contexts of mobility where norms are not known or shared. The relevant dispositions are broadly classified into three: i.e., language awareness, rhetorical sensibility, and negotiation strategies. The chapter narrates how an international student developed these dispositions in a writing course.
