ABSTRACT

In the final chapter, the author presents salient themes and arguments distilled from the previous eight chapters. In particular, the author draws attention to the common challenges described by the contributors and the ways in which they navigate and thrive in higher education institutions. She then highlights the frameworks and concepts that the volume contributors use to capture the lived experiences of Chicana and Latina faculty. Collectively, these frameworks signal the direction in which future scholarship should consider framing the underrepresentation of Chicana and Latina faculty and administrators in academe. The author concludes by drawing from the contributor’s narratives to propose recommendations to junior Chicana and Latina faculty and for policy and future research. Finally, she offers an appendix with a select list of national resources for community and support.
