ABSTRACT
This chapter critically analyzes the character of Dewey Finn as he appears in the Broadway musical School of Rock, examining his role as a substitute teacher despite his lack of formal teacher training. Using song lyrics from the show as subheadings, my analysis focuses on the following areas: background information and setting the proverbial stage, the curriculum and the school itself, the teacher’s role and, finally, the impact on the students.
