ABSTRACT
This chapter concerns the interrelationship between deepening political disagreements and a tribal or group-indexed form of intellectual arrogance. I argue that first, this kind of intellectual arrogance is bound up with, and worsens the effects of, affective or attitude polarization. And second, certain kinds of disagreements can, in turn, feed that attitude, or at the very least our perception of who is displaying it.
