ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces a new typology of political space on campus. Examples of how students, faculty, and administrators navigate each space to overcome challenges and take advantage of opportunities are explored through relevant and cross-cutting examples. The author argues that rather than shying away from political tensions and succumbing to the silencing features of political correctness, educators at postsecondary institutions should embrace a focus on interrogating, critiquing, and disrupting the distribution of resources and power within a democracy.
