ABSTRACT
This case study examines the implementation of Ceasefire during the 1990s and its revitalization during the mid-2000s in response to a resurgence of gang violence in Boston. It focuses on the vital role that problem analysis played in the revitalization of Ceasefire and the institutionalization of focused deterrence as the Boston Police Department’s main response to outbreaks of serious gang violence.
