ABSTRACT

This chapter offers some vignettes of innovative practice across several disciplines to illustrate the impact of the UK Professional Standards Framework on the design and implementation of innovative assessments. The Framework encourages and facilitates an integrated approach to academic practice through its emphasis on the dual nature of academic professionalism, encouraging and recognising continuous professional development in both subject discipline and pedagogical scholarship. The vignettes are drawn from colleagues who have successfully completed postgraduate certificate programmes in learning and teaching in higher education aligned to the UK Professional Standards Framework which encourage a critically reflective approach often requiring a piece of action research.
