ABSTRACT

This narrative is the transition from having been a principal dancer in the Royal Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet into a longer-spanning second career, that of teaching, and how the first career necessarily informs the second. The journey begins with a post-professional teachers’ course, transitioning into two collegiate dance programme positions, the first in Singapore, and the second in America. The narrative describes how I have incorporated my years of professional dance experience into the teaching of ballet to the contemporary college student.
