ABSTRACT

This introductory chapter explores Dr. William Tate’s contributions to CRT, especially in mathematics education. As it stands, he has authored many publications that have conjoined CRT and mathematics education, and his scholarship has been instrumental in shaping the discourse regarding CRT, Black students, standards, assessments, policies, laws, and culturally relevant practices in mathematics education. Therefore, his body of work has championed the use of CRT as a theoretical, methodological, and pedagogical framework for the field.
