ABSTRACT

Hyderabad has a large number of Hindi-speaking poets and writers, Indu Vashist, Vasant Chakravarti, Venugopal, Diwakar Pandey, Balakrishna Sharma are among the others some of prominent figures. Kalanni Nidvaponivvam, a collection of poems which won the Sahitya Akademi award was translated by Shanta Sundari. Many poems of the poet Gopi have been translated by Sumanlata, Krishna, and Ratnakar which have been published as a collection titled Gopi ki Kavita. Hyderabad's non-Hindi-speaking Telugu scholars have contributed in the area of comparative literature also. M. Venkatesh, Krishna and Y. V. Rama Rao (fiction) have made significant contributions in Hindi translations. A great contribution to the field was also made by Krishna and Ramlu by translating G. V. Subramanium's work on literary criticism and poetics into Hindi. It is observed that the contribution of Hyderabad to Hindi literature has its own distinction. Modern trends of poetry, feminist poetry, Dalit literature, fiction, literary criticism of Telugu literature are well represented.
