ABSTRACT

Hyderabad is a cosmopolitan city and fifth largest in the country. People of different religions and languages live here and collectively contribute towards the evolution of a cosmopolitan culture that is unique. Many literary organizations such as Hindi Academy Hyderabad, Hindi Lekhak Sangh, Geet Chandini, Sanj ke Saathi, Kadambini Club, etc., are propagating Hindi in their own way by organizing lectures, seminars, poetic gatherings and various other literary activities. Hindi Prachar Sabha Hyderabad which was started in 1935 began publishing Ajanta, a monthly in the year 1953, but discontinued it after some years. Sahitya Sangam International, a Literary organization run by Sri Muralidhar Sharma published a bilingual quarterly Sahitya Sangam for about five years. In conclusion it can be said that the contribution of Hyderabad in the field of Hindi journalism is laudable. Magazines like Kalpana, Adhyay, Bhaswar Bharat have achieved National status and have contributed a lot for the development of Hindi language literature and functional Hindi in Hyderabad.
