ABSTRACT

Journalists today in traditional TV newsrooms feel challenged like never before. Journalists sense an increasing pressure to work fast and produce ever more sensational and engaging content. This pressure leads to them sensing a threat to their traditional values of good journalism. Based on exclusive access to conduct ethnographic research, this chapter takes the reader to the heart of Danish TV newsrooms. Analyzing everyday work of TV journalists shows that while the profession is under pressure, the bond among journalists across broadcasters is increasingly strengthened. The chapter explores how this kind of strong professional relation can feel as strong as a family bond.
