ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews the unique needs associated with the use of tests and assessments with children. Incorporated in this chapter are legal and ethical concerns associated with such use. The author describes the ways parents/legal guardians can and should be informed and used in the process. Timing of the use of assessments in the clinical process as well as which assessments work best in differing scenarios are reviewed. Further, the author discusses the implementation of assessment data to inform and further the counseling relationship through a case analysis.
