ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the narratives of two Congolese students regarding their experience with PEC-G—Programa de Estudantes Convênio de Graduacao (Exchange Program for Undergraduate Students). They were Mananga, a woman aged 21, a prospective PEC-G Nursing student, and Pinfo, a man aged 25, already a PEC-G student, who was attending the second year of an undergraduate course in Media Studies. It discusses the light of globalization, the emergence of policies and programs in Brazilian universities that are aimed at internationalization and cooperation. The chapter points to the lines of theory-building that have been developing and outlines the empirical approach adopted by Bizon in the study she conducted with students from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) based at a university in Brazil. In the specific context of internationalization, the PEC-G program in different Brazilian universities has been implemented by means of institutional links with particular universities in other countries, with the main aim of enhancing the flow of students.
