ABSTRACT
This chapter outlines the introduction of English activities in the fifth and sixth grades of a public elementary school in Japan and how Japanese elementary school teachers are adapting to this rather substantial change to the curriculum, with examples of how teachers have accepted, but in many ways adapted, teaching approaches and content to their own unique contexts.
