ABSTRACT

Culture is an important aspect of human existence. Defined as the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively, culture inevitably has an economic dimension. A most obvious example is the sale of art objects. But there is more to culture and economics. Works collected by Towse (2003) emphasize different dimension of economics and culture such as financing culture and art, welfare impact of cultural production, implications of intellectual property rights and culture as an economic institution.
