ABSTRACT

This book we hope continues the pioneering work established through the British Dyslexia Association’s 1st International Conference on Multilingualism in 1999, and we are delighted by the follow-up initiatives that have taken place. The contents of this book are evidence that – although we all agree there is much to be done still – there is without doubt vigorous research and insightful classroom practices taking place. We are also indebted to those contributors who have identified the wider social and cultural issues that are so important for individuals and families. This book therefore has not only educational implications but implications for policy, communities and society.
