ABSTRACT

This chapter identifies the key points not only for pre-service teachers but also for in-service ones who wish to combine theory with practice in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroom management. The classroom management is teachers' strategies to enhance an effective learning environment whereas discipline is the teachers' attitude towards misbehaviour. The chapter outlines that some examples of the rules is setting significant to conduct positive relationship and to prevent inappropriate behaviors. Interactive models are basically based on logical and natural consequences, cooperative discipline, positive classroom discipline, and noncoercive discipline. In the guiding model, there is a shift from a teacher-centered classroom to a learner-centered classroom. The chapter discusses an educational environment, a social environment, a curriculum, teachers' and students' roles, setting rules, time management, lesson planning, reacting to inappropriate behaviors, and facilitating communication in the classroom are some of the key factors that the teachers should consider.
